How it all started...
I've been surrounded by creativity since I can remember. I was born in the seventies, in the height of the hippie craft movement and I grew up attending the
Renaissance Faire dressed in costumes that my mother made by hand. She had a stained glass bench set up in our garage and I would gather up the lead solder pellets that fell on the floor. Hazardous waste or shiny marbles? We know better now. She would crochet olive green cactus-shaped forms and ask my brother and I to collect foxtails that she used as the cactus spines. She tells me that I tried to paint everything in my room as well as the toilet-seat with her red nail polish. It clearly rubbed off on me.
I used to design jewelry and I had one of the first Etsy shops back in 2005. It's still there under the name of Fullofcraft, although it's been a very long time since there was any activity.
In 2016, I participated in a 365 day challenge to design a ring-a-day. I never thought I'd actually be able to finish, but I figured that I would at least give it a shot. I thought I might make it a week, but after I finished 7 rings, I decided to try for 30. Then I finished 30 rings and I just kept going. On the final day of that year, on December 31st as I was drinking a glass of champagne, I felt so sad that I was about to finish the challenge and that I was going to have a "break" from this creative streak. I had become so accustomed to flexing my creative muscle, that I couldn't imagine living without it. I decided then that I was going to try to live a creative life.
