Step into the world of metalsmithing and create your own set of sterling silver stacking rings—designed, shaped, and finished by you.
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work with sterling silver wire and sheet metal (with the option to incorporate brass if you love a mixed-metal moment) to create at least two custom rings you’ll actually want to wear every day.
This class is beginner-friendly and starts from the very beginning. You’ll be guided through core silversmithing techniques including sawing, forming, soldering, texturing, and polishing—learning not just how to make your rings, but how to bring your own design ideas to life.
If you already have some experience, you’re welcome to build on your skills with more personalized guidance.
Workshops are intentionally small (just 6 participants) so you’ll have plenty of support, space, and one-on-one instruction throughout.
You’ll leave with a set of finished rings that feel personal, a little imperfect in the best way, and completely your own.
✨ Studio Safety + What to Wear
We’ll be working with professional tools and equipment, so a few simple guidelines help keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone:
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Avoid loose or flowy sleeves
- Cotton clothing and jeans are recommended
- Wear something you don’t mind getting a little marked up (aprons provided)
- Long hair should be tied back
- Safety glasses will be provided (your own glasses work too)
Some processes (like soldering and polishing) may create fumes or particulates—feel free to bring a mask if you prefer.
It can also get a little loud at times (hello hammering), so optional ear protection is welcome.
Most importantly: respect for the tools, the space, and each other is key.
✨ About the Instructor
Four Aught Metalsmiths is the studio practice of jeweler and metalsmith Nina Savill.
Nina came to metalsmithing through welding, bringing a sculptural and experimental approach to her work. Largely self-taught, her journey from NYC to Los Angeles has shaped a design philosophy rooted in individuality, exploration, and personal expression.
Jewelry has always been more than adornment—it marks milestones, tells stories, and holds meaning across time.
4/0 Metalsmiths was created in that spirit: part tradition, part rebellion.
These workshops are designed to guide each participant in creating a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects their own story, while building real craftsmanship skills along the way.

Media Release: I hereby allow THESE HANDS, LLC. to take photographs, video, or audio of me and to use such materials for promotional and archival purposes only. If you wish to opt out, please make the instructor aware of that prior to the start of class.
Class / Workshop Etiquette: All scheduled classes and workshops start and end on time. Please be prompt in your arrival and departure, as we often have other classes starting after yours. Arriving 30 minutes late to a class counts as a no-show, and no make up class will be offered. Teachers are subject to change.
Refund policy: THESE HANDS, LLC. reserves the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment or unforeseen teacher conflicts. If a class is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule the session. If you are unable to attend, you will be issued a refund.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel a class for a full refund 21 days in advance of class/workshop start date. After that, the class is non-refundable. This applies to all regular workshops. We treat transfers the same as we do with cancellations. Transfers are only possible if you let us know 21 days in advance. The only exception that we make is if the class is sold out and has a waiting list. We can then try to fill your spot with a student from that list.
COVID policy: If you test positive for COVID, please do not attend your scheduled workshop. Instead please contact us and let us know that you cannot attend. If you would like to receive a credit towards a future workshop, please email us your Positive PCR results (it must be a valid test with your name included) or a doctor's note. No refunds will be issued.
Gift Cards: Gift certificates can be applied toward all workshops, labs or These Hands Makers Collective merchandise. Gift Cards can not be redeemed for cash. Gift Cards do not expire.
Parking: Please note parking signs and regulation to avoid getting a ticket!
