Class Description:

This workshop series is designed for the watercolor curious and beginner-level painters who are ready to try out a new medium in the new year! Maybe you've dabbled in watercolor before and found it difficult, maybe you've been interested in it but never picked up a brush. If any of those sound like you, this class series is here to help you get started in the world of watercolor in a constructive, supportive environment. 

Over the course of three 3 hour classes, we will break down the steps of creating a painting from start to finish. Each class will include two distinct parts: introductory watercolor education and independent painting with support from artist and instructor, Annie Brown.

In each class, we will cover new beginner-level techniques, color mixing tricks, and specialized materials. You will learn about how some of the world's most famous artists utilized watercolors while finding your own creative style and voice in the medium. This series has a smaller group size than a regular watercolor class so that we can foster two things: community and extra individual assistance. We won't do critiques, we will do constructive learning through experimentation, education, and play. 

At the end of this series, my hope is that you will have a better understanding and newfound appreciation for what can be a truly magical medium. The next step in your creative journey starts here!

Material Info:
Materials will be provided during the classes (a small selection of brushes, paint, and paper). If you have watercolor materials from home, you are welcome to bring those too! This will be a great way to get to know your paints even further. We also sell some watercolor supplies in the studio that you are welcome to check out.

About the Artist:

Annie Brown is a Los Angeles-based artist with a love for works on paper. Her work in watercolor, colored pencil, and charcoal focuses on contemporary realism that highlights the beauty of the objects, places, and creatures we see every day. She believes in the accessibility of art and that workshops should be educational with plenty of room for exploration and play.

You do hereby release THESE HANDS, LLC. or any person or persons acting on its behalf from liability for any bodily injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of any personal articles while on the premises or while participating in any activity sponsored by THESE HANDS, LLC. Furthermore, the undersigned agrees that in the event medical attention is required due to accident or illness, THESE HANDS, LLC. shall, without accepting fiscal responsibility, seek such medical services as it deems necessary and appropriate through EMs/911 and/or local hospitals.


Media Release: I hereby allow THESE HANDS, LLC. to take photographs, video, or audio of me and to use such materials for promotional and archival purposes only. If you wish to opt out, please make the instructor aware of that prior to the start of class.


Class / Workshop Etiquette: All scheduled classes and workshops start and end on time. Please be prompt in your arrival and departure, as we often have other classes starting after yours. Arriving 30 minutes late to a class counts as a no-show, and no make up class will be offered. Teachers are subject to change.


Refund policy: THESE HANDS, LLC. reserves the right to cancel any class due to low enrollment or unforeseen teacher conflicts. If a class is cancelled, we will do our best to reschedule the session.  If you are unable to attend, you will be issued a refund. 


Cancellation Policy: You may cancel a class for a full refund 21 days in advance of class/workshop start date. After that, the class is non-refundable.  This applies to all regular workshops. We treat transfers the same as we do with cancellations.  Transfers are only possible if you let us know 21 days in advance.  The only exception that we make is if the class is sold out and has a waiting list.  We can then try to fill your spot with a student from that list.


COVID policy: If you test positive for COVID, please do not attend your scheduled workshop.  Instead please contact us and let us know that you cannot attend.  If you would like to receive a credit towards a future workshop, please email us your Positive PCR results (it must be a valid test with your name included) or a doctor's note.  No refunds will be issued.


Gift Cards: Gift certificates can be applied toward all workshops, labs or These Hands Makers Collective merchandise.  Gift Cards can not be redeemed for cash.  Gift Cards do not expire.


Parking: Please note parking signs and regulation to avoid getting a ticket!
