Class Description:

This workshop series is made for artists who have taken beginner-level classes, are painting at home, and are ready to level-up their watercolor practice. If that sounds like you, then this intermediate-level series is here to help you master the world of watercolor in a constructive, supportive environment.

Over the course of three 3 hour classes, we will break down the steps to creating a painting from start to finish. Each class will include two distinct parts: advanced watercolor education and independent painting with supported guidance.

In each class, we will cover new advanced techniques, color theory, and composition tips. We'll touch on glazing, shading, preserving white, finishing / flattening, and so much more. With this smaller group size, each participant will have time to get their individual questions answered while also getting to know their classmates, building a miniature watercolor community.

We'll kick off the series by sharing our experience, setting out our goals for the month, and sharing our chosen photo that we'll be working on. Each participant will bring in an image that they want to work on over the course of the three week period. This photo can be a subject matter that has historically challenged you, a photo of something near and dear to you, or something you simply like the looks of! At the end of each class, there will be dedicated painting time to work on your piece with guidance and encouragement by instructor and watercolorist, Annie Brown. You will be encouraged to work on your piece between classes too, if you'd like!

At the end of this series, you will have a deeper knowledge of the medium and renewed confidence in your abilities to make the images you picture appear on the page. The next step in your watercolor journey starts here!

Material recommendations:
Materials will be provided during the classes (including a small selection of brushes, paint in limited colors, and high quality paper) but I highly recommend bringing your watercolor materials from home too! This will be a great way to get to know your paints even further. Please bring any paints and brushes you have.

Please Note:
****This is a series of classes (three consecutive Wednesday evenings). Please make sure you can attend all of the classes prior to signing up since there will not be individual make up sessions.

Age Group: Adults (18 and over)

Level: Watercolor experience is necessary. This series is best suited for intermediate artists who have taken two or more beginner-level classes, especially those taught by Annie, and who have been painting at home. We will be expanding on knowledge that is covered in Annie's beginner-friendly and all-levels classes.
