The result reflects wabi-sabi, the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and change.

In this workshop, you'll explore that same spirit through a simplified, beginner-friendly method. You'll select from a collection of pre-broken ceramic pieces provided in class, rejoin your piece using a 2-part epoxy, and paint the repaired seams with metallic gold—no lacquer expertise or months of patience required.

This workshop is a wonderful opportunity to see breakage differently, as a moment in an object's story rather than the end of it. If you have a piece of your own you'd like to work with instead—something sentimental or personally meaningful—you're welcome to bring it to class to discuss with the instructor. Either way, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece bearing seams of gold.

No prior experience is necessary, and all materials, including pre-broken ceramic pieces, epoxy, gold paint, tools, and gloves, are provided. Fans will also be running throughout class to keep air flowing while you work with the epoxy.

Please note: workshop pieces are intended for decorative use only and are not food safe or dishwasher safe.

Age Group: Adults (18 and over)

Level: All levels welcome

Workshop Info:

Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2026

Time: 6:30-8:30pm

Location:
These Hands Maker's Collective
13347 W.
